A Pink and Purple Day
Pallastunturi National Park is located in the northwestern part of Kittila (and portions of two other counties). More than 200 km north of the Arctic Circle, the effects of polar night, kaamos, lasts well into January so I was able to get my first "pink and purple" photos.
In reality the colors are not so pronounced as they photograph, but the light was so beautiful when the sun broke through the clouds I stopped the car to get out and take these photos! Truly, as the sun peeked over the horizon, I saw it not as the common light in the sky but as the earth star.
