The Old Särestö Homeplace

The Sarestoniemi Studio  Old Särestö is the homeplace of the Särestöniemi family.

Located along the Ounasjoki River near the village of Kaukonen, the Sarestoniemi family farm dates back to the 19th century. It remained the family home and farm until the death of Sarestoniemi's brother in the mid-1990s.

The farm and home survived World War II to become one of the few example of old family farms in Lapland.

Today the homeplace preserves a view into  life in rural 20th century Lapland.
